A new initiative launched Monday is designed to help Hoosiers save money on their energy bills this winter.
Energizing Indiana will conduct home energy assessments to pinpoint problem areas. ?
Advisors will look at the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems to make sure they are operating efficiently. ?They'll also inspect air duct sealing and insulation levels to evaluate a home's energy usage.
The program is an effort by the Indiana Regulatory Commission, participating utilities and consumer organizations.
"If you make all of the changes that are recommended in a typical home you can have a 25-30 percent reduction in energy usage," said Bob Nuss, Managing Director
The initiative is expected to help 48,000 homeowners in 2012.
